The IEB FET phase follows a structured academic year with set terms, scheduled assessments, and School-Based Assessments (SBAs) that count for 25% of the final NSC mark. Students select 7 subjects — four compulsory and three electives — and complete all three grades to earn their National Senior Certificate.

What grades are available for IEB?

Grade 10 is currently available for enrolment. Grades 11 and 12 are coming soon. Register your interest and we'll notify you as soon as they launch. The IEB FET phase covers Grades 10 to 12, leading to the National Senior Certificate (NSC).

What's the difference between IEB and SACAI?

Both IEB and SACAI follow the same CAPS curriculum and both are accredited by Umalusi, meaning the NSC from either body is equally recognised. The key difference is in assessment approach — IEB exams emphasise critical thinking, application, and analysis of unseen material, while SACAI assessments tend to follow a more traditional format. IEB is widely regarded as the more academically rigorous option.

Will SA universities accept the IEB NSC?

Yes, every South African university accepts the IEB NSC. No exemptions are needed. The IEB NSC is a nationally recognised qualification accredited by Umalusi. Universities treat IEB results identically to any other NSC — what matters is your subject choices and marks, not which examination body set the paper.

Is the IEB NSC recognised internationally?

Yes. The IEB NSC is comparable to UK AS-Level standard, and IEB Advanced Programme (AP) subjects are comparable to full A-Levels. IEB graduates are accepted at universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, and across Europe. CambriLearn's additional Cognia accreditation further strengthens international recognition.

How do SBAs work online?

School-Based Assessments (SBAs) count for 25% of the final NSC mark. They are administered throughout the academic year as part of the structured term programme. SBAs include assignments, tests, practical work, and internal examinations — all completed through CambriLearn's platform and moderated according to IEB standards.

Is the IEB pathway self-paced?

No. Unlike the International British Curriculum, the IEB FET phase follows a structured academic year with set terms, scheduled assessments, and specific deadlines. This is an IEB requirement. Students follow a term-based schedule with regular live lessons, SBA due dates, and examination periods.

Where are final exams written?

Final IEB examinations are written at registered IEB examination centres. CambriLearn will provide guidance on locating your nearest centre. The NSC examination typically takes place in October/November each year, in line with the national examination timetable.

How much does it cost?
